Why This Project Was Created

As AI becomes an everyday companion in learning design, many Instructional Designers still struggle with vague or irrelevant GPT responses. Why? Because prompting is a skill — not just a command.

PromptCraft was born out of that realization:

To empower Instructional Designers to write clearer, more effective GPT prompts that align with real-world L&D scenarios.

This wasn’t just another how-to guide. I wanted it to feel like a personal coaching experience, where the learner:

• Enters a relatable scenario,
• Practices with real input,
• Gets structured AI feedback,
• And iterates, just like in real design workflows.

How It Was Built

PromptCraft was created using a combination of powerful tools and real-time AI integration:

Articulate Storyline 360	Built the full interactive flow with logic-based navigation, variable handling, JS triggers, and GPT API integration
Vyond	Developed the animated scenario introducing Nina, an ID frustrated with poor GPT results
Canva	Designed all visual elements.
JavaScript + GPT-4 API	Enabled real-time, personalized feedback for learners inside Storyline
Custom GPT Assistant (“PromptCoach”)	Provided context-aware evaluation, encouraging feedback, and prompt refinement tips in natural language

Instructional Design Methodology

This project reflects modern ID thinking — blending scenario-based learning, coaching models, and AI-enhanced reflection:

• Scenario-Based Learning (SBL)
  A real-world setup (via Vyond) hooks learners and contextualizes the pain of poor prompting.
• Experiential Learning Loop
  Learners try → get feedback → revise → try again — mirroring design iterations in actual workflows.
• Cognitive Load Theory
  Each screen focuses on one key action — helping learners absorb, act, and reflect without cognitive overload.
• AI as a Learning Partner
  Instead of just content delivery, GPT serves as a feedback coach, creating low-stakes, personalized learning.
• Mastery-Based Assessment
  The final task challenges the learner to apply what they’ve learned in a fresh scenario, encouraging transfer.
